His impressive CV includes wins in the Blancpain Endurance Series and VLN, as well as outings in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) and Dutch GT Championship, in which he finished third in 2012, although the Dutchman successfully turned his hand to front-wheel-drive ‘tin-tops’, excelling after joining the Lada Sport ranks partway through the 2015 FIA World Touring Car Championship season.
For Nicky, 2016 was an exciting, yet intense season, having inked a contract to race a Black Swan Racing Porsche 991 GT3 R in the IMSA-sanctioned 2016 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the USA alongside outings in the 24 Hours of Spa and the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring with a brand-new factory BMW M6 GT3 race car. Catsburg also competed for the first time at Macau with Rowe Racing and took Lada Sport’s first WTCC victory as he took the chequered flag in Russia.
In 2017 Nicky joined the Polestar Cyan Racing team in the FIA WTCC and went on to help the team claim the WTCC Manufacturers World Championship courtesy of his five podium positions and victory at the Nurburgring.
Nicky returned to GT racing in 2018, joining BMW Motorsport as a factory driver and competing in select rounds of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as well as the FIA World Endurance Championship Super Season in the all-new BMW M8 GTE.
2019 sees Nicky return to the pinnacle of International Touring Car racing – when he joins the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup in a Customer Racing entered Hyundai i30 N TCR.
In addition to his WEC and WTCR duties, he will also compete in the Intercontinental GT Challenge with BMW.Official website
