Oliver Gavin commenced his 15th consecutive season under the Corvette Racing banner with a maiden victory in the 2016 Rolex 24 at Daytona and this was the first step on the road to the WeatherTech United SportsCar Championship title.
The Northamptonshire-based driver started racing as a teenager, competing in various national karting series before making a name for himself in cars in 1990.
He won the coveted McLaren Autosport Young Driver of the Year award in 1991 and has since become a consistent podium finisher in various championships around the world.
Having tested for major Formula 1 teams, including Benetton and Renault, he notably drove the Grand Prix Safety Car during the 1998 and 1999 seasons.
As of 2015, BAM Motorsports handles the British ace’s commercial and PR interests in the United SportsCar Championship and was responsible for managing the Briton’s second consecutive full assault on the V8 Supercars PIRTEK Enduro Cup.
There he showcased Australian property maintenance franchise, Hire A Hubby, and its association with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) by proudly carrying the organisations’ logos on his Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport Holden VF Commodore.
2016 saw Gavin secure four United SportsCar Championship victories on his way to the GTLM title alongside his Corvette Racing teammate Tommy Milner.
