His impressive CV includes wins in the Blancpain Endurance Series – including 24 Hours of Spa – VLN, as well as outings in the European Le Mans Series and Dutch GT Championship. The Dutchman successfully turned his hand to front-wheel-drive touring cars, excelling after joining the Lada Sport ranks partway through the 2015 FIA World Touring Car Championship season.
His role with BMW in 2016 saw him compete in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the USA alongside outings in the 24 Hours of Spa and the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring with a brand-new factory BMW M6 GT3 race car. Catsburg also competed for the first time at Macau with Rowe Racing and took Lada Sport’s first WTCC victory.
In 2017 Nicky joined the Polestar Cyan Racing team in the FIA WTCC and went on to help the team claim the WTCC Manufacturers World Championship courtesy of his five podium positions and victory at the Nurburgring. Nicky returned to GT racing in 2018, joining BMW Motorsport as a factory driver and competing in select rounds of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as well as the FIA World Endurance Championship Super Season in the all-new BMW M8 GTE.
He remained with BMW Motorsport in 2019, competing in the Intercontinental GT Challenge – second at Kyalami – whilst adding the WTCR Hyundai programme to his campaign with the i30 N TCR. His VLN programme with Rowe Racing saw him add another Nurburgring Nordschleife victory to his record.
For 2020, Nicky adds a third manufacturer to the roster as he competes in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship with Corvette Racing. He finished fourth on his and the team’s debut with the all-new C8.R at the Rolex 24.Official website
