Kevin Gleason, the American driver from Western Pennsylvania racing in the TCR International Series, continued to impress in his debut season taking his second pole position of the year at Austria’s Salzburgring (30 May).

Gleason, driving one of Swedish outfit WestCoast Racing’s trio of Honda Civic TCRs, was making his first appearance at the undulating alpine circuit, but looked anything but a rookie taking pole position with a last gasp perfect lap to pip his teammate and ex-Formula 1 racer, Gianni Morbidelli to pole by just 0.091s.

“Everybody was talking about drafting to get the perfect lap, but it just goes wrong when you try and orchestrate these things,” said Gleason. “I got my head down and just went for it and it came together nicely. Tomorrow’s races are going to be really tough, but I’m going to do my vest best to get the win.”

Tomorrow’s two TCR International Series races at Austria’s Salzburgring can be viewed via live stream at at 12.35 and 14.35 (CET).
